Business Manager
Listed on the Singapore stock exchange, our client is a key player in the beverage industry. Currently, they are looking for an Assistant Business Manager to join one of their business units.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the development and implementation of sales plans and procedures, as well as meeting the objectives of expanding the business through sales efforts and managing specific dealers. He will also oversee service transition, service delivery, ongoing process improvement and set sales targets for each subordinate, emphasizing ownership of targets by team members.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and monitor volume and profit growth strategies and plans in assigned accounts. Monitor account profitability and develop key action plans with team using integrated operating results.
- Participate/Assist in the development, negotiation and management of budgets associated with proposals and/or contracts, as appropriate.
- Participate in the development of operating goals and objectives for the segment; recommend, implement and administer methods and procedures to enhance operations.
- Work with management to ensure an efficient allocation of account management responsibilities within the team, and to advise members of the team as appropriate on developing systems and procedures for effective relationship management and customer service.
- Manage cross-functional alignment to business/sales plans by identifying external dependencies and/or working with functional area within the organization that support trade development and customer partnerships; initiate, lead and/or participate in cross-functional teams to execute promotional activities and merchandising in outlets and review their effectiveness in increasing sales.
- Conduct territory analysis and planning to enable appropriate allocation of time to accounts and customers.
- Maintain a consistent frequency of outlet visits to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of outlets in beers sales, i.e. execution of brand presence, visual roll-out/events, product freshness, in-call check merchandising, and sales volume.
- Monitor sales achievements relative to objectives on a daily basis and initiate programs/activities as necessary to ensure that sales targets are achieved.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for extending distribution and increasing sales through promotional activity by the retailers/outlets, as appropriate.
- Maintain frequent, close personal contact with specific dealers and key customer representatives, focused on lead generation with company and vendor account management to increase revenue and gross margin.
- Investigate customer service complaints; seek solutions and agreement on issues and actions yet make certain that sales and customer requirements are foremost. Create customer-specific action plans/activities and develop specific recommendations to improve customer satisfaction; exercise independent judgment in advising customers on issues and policies, as appropriate.
- Motivate and provide support whenever necessary to enhance a sense of team spirit and foster cooperation among team members.
- Identify new ways to penetrate client relationships and motivate and coach team members to optimal effectiveness.
- Analyze and appraise the effectiveness of sales, methods, costs and results; approve specific sales activities requested by account representatives/officers.
Requirements:
- Degree in Business Administration/Studies, Commerce or Management.
- At least 3 - 5 years experience in sales, including experience in outside sales or pertinent vendor management experience.
- Proven experience collaborating effectively in a team environment and accountability for team results.
- Good administrator who will effectively follow-up and control to achieve solid results within a highly competitive industry.
- Ability to assess and draw conclusions from both quantitative and qualitative data sources.
- Demonstrated skills at building talent pools, engaging and inspiring people, and setting high performance standards.
- Ability to demonstrate energy, sense of urgency, focus and follow through that deliver high quality results.
- Ability to identify key players in organizations and possess the ability to convert business issues into solutions.
- Excellent communicator who can handle difficult business situations well, and represent the sales organization both inside and outside the organization in a professional and ethical manner.
- Excellent problem solving skills with the flexibility to adjust quickly to changing market dynamics
- Decisive, capable of weighing facts and alternatives, and able to make timely and thoughtful decisions

- Flexible on working hours; including nights, weekends and holidays when needed.
