Our Client

Our client is a leading global provider of office furniture and services with presence in more than 40 countries.

The Role

The successful candidate will focus on building a continuously improving global vendor community that is part of an integrated and automated supply chain which is able to meet the requirements of the customers with competitive total cost of supply. In addition, he will provide engineering support to offer custom solutions/ options for the customers and support the new product introduction process from vendor qualification through to vendor development, improvement and management.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and deliver material cost saving initiatives to ensure that the company remains competitive in the market.
  • Support the commercial team on tenders by identifying and negotiating project pricing initiatives with our supply base.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships internally and externally.
  • Work within corporate guidelines and ensure full transparency, in line with the company’s code of conduct and ethics, when managing relationships with our suppliers.    
  • Identify and implement the material cost, lead-time, capital investment, design effort, quality and testing initiatives within the selected supply base
  • Negotiate and analyze material costs and capital investments relative to targets
  • Facilitate resolution of design, quality and price or delivery issues with the supply base throughout the development process.
  • Manage SQP audit process at suppliers and identify improvement plans (i.e., reliability, delivery performance and documentation).
  • Identify process improvements, develop solutions and implement those changes.
  • Working with supply, operations and product management - responsible for new product introductions, to include vendor qualification and item set up on system.
  • Support the Supplier Development Manager Singapore in implementing strategic plans and objectives for the function that will enable the overall business plan to be achieved.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Additional certification in Supply Chain Management such as Diploma in Purchasing is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in supply management, procurement and pricing.
  • Working knowledge of all aspects of business operations, including finance, accounting, materials management, processes and systems.
  • Strong negotiation, problem solving and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead others without formal authority.
  • Self motivated ‘Team Player’ with disciplined and organized approach.
  • Able to make decisions in isolation considering the business impact.
  • Confident approach towards chairing meetings, giving presentations and conduct trainings.
